Formulas and assumptions

Market cap = token price × circulating supply. FDV estimate = token price × the total or maximum supply entered. The calculator treats the selected supply basis as a simple input; it cannot confirm circulating, locked, burned, or unlock schedules.

Valuation math, not a forecast

Both figures use the same entered token price. Neither tells you how much cash has been invested or what a token should be worth.

Market cap

Price × circulating supply

This is a snapshot based on the supplied price and circulating-token estimate. Thin liquidity can make a quoted price a poor guide to the price available for a large sale.

FDV estimate

Price × selected supply basis

Fully diluted valuation estimates what the valuation would be if the selected total or maximum supply were priced at today’s entered price. It does not say when or whether more tokens will circulate.

For a worked explanation, see Market cap vs. FDV, explained. For general token risks, the CFTC warns about pump-and-dump schemes in thinly traded tokens ↗.

Common questions

Know what the figures leave out

This calculator shows arithmetic from your inputs; it does not assess a token or recommend a trade.

Is market cap the amount invested?

No. It is price multiplied by circulating supply, not the amount of money that entered the token or the cash available to sell at that price.

Does FDV predict dilution?

No. It compares the current entered price with a selected supply basis. Actual future supply and its effects depend on token rules, unlocks, demand, and market liquidity.

Why do websites show different FDVs?

Providers may use different supply definitions or update prices and supply data at different times. Match the price timestamp and supply basis when comparing figures.

Does FadeIt use live data?

No. Enter the price and supply figures yourself and check them against the project’s disclosures and a data source you trust.
